Frequently Asked Questions
What do I need to do to prepare for my move?
Even when using a relocation specialist like E-Z Movers, there are steps a shipper should take to prepare for their move to make it easiest and most cost effective.
Analyze your household goods.
Analyze your household to determine those items that are not worth shipping. Almost everyone accumulates "things" they do not really want to ship. Ideally these items should be removed from residence before your relocation. Decide what to take based on fragility, sentimental value, or if certain items are irreplaceable.
I have eliminated unwanted goods. Now do I have to pack?
You can pack your own items and save money, if you wish. However, E-Z Movers cannot be responsible for items you pack yourself. If you decide to pack your own belongings, visit our Moving Checklist section. But, for just pennies per pound, you can avail of E-Z Movers' packing services and let our trained packing crew pack your belongings.
How long does it take to move?
This depends on many factors, such as the time of year, weather conditions, size of your shipment, time required to load and unload, and the direction and distance your shipment is traveling. Whatever the circumstance, our knowledgeable staff will offer advice and be able to help you understand what to expect.
Do my appliances need special attention?
Most refrigerators, washers, dryers, and other electrical or mechanical appliances require special servicing to ensure safe transportation. Any moving parts such as motors on major appliances, washer drums, icemakers and the pickup arm on a phonograph should be securely fastened for shipment. Gas appliances need to be serviced and disconnected prior to your move. It is the owner's responsibility to see that appliances are serviced for shipment before they are loaded on the truck. Upon request and for an additional charge, a moving company will perform this service, using either its own qualified personnel or an authorized service company.
When should I call the moving company?
The earlier, the better. Although the actual van assignment may not be made until a few days before your move, it's wise to give your moving company from four to six weeks' notice, if possible. The more lead time you can give, the more likely we will be able to meet your schedule.
What happens if I have to reschedule my move?
Call or contact E-Z Movers as soon as you can to reschedule. We realize many things can come up at the last minute and we will make every attempt to accommodate changes in your schedule. 1-888-917-8300. Contact us
