Farmington is an old city that’s located in the northwest corner of Fulton County in Illinois. As far as the records go, the city was founded in 1827. Before it was established, it was occupied by the local Native Americans of the Potawatomi tribe. This city was also involved in the famous Underground Railroad. In fact, there are several homes here that used to be safe houses for escaping slaves.
In the 1900s, there were several Italian immigrants that settled here. This is a small city, with a small population as well. The 2000 census mentioned that this place has about 2601 people.
The real estate market here is very buyer friendly. The city is close to Peoria, which makes it a very convenient place to live in. The houses are very affordable and you’ll find homes for all kinds of budgets. So even if you’re on a modest budget, this is a great place for you. Moreover, unlike other affordable places, Farmington has a very low crime rate.
Schools and Education:
There are some great schools, both private and public. Schools like Elmwood Elementary and Middle, and Farmington Central High School enjoy high ratings on GreatSchools.
So, if you want a family friendly and affordable place to live, Farmington is a great choice.
